Trauma Program Staff

South Shore Hospital’s entire staff of physicians, health care professionals, and administrators is involved in providing care to the trauma patients.

The Trauma Program staff has the responsibility for assuring compliance with the American College of Surgeons criteria and continuously improving the care for the trauma patient.  Continuously improving care is accomplished by the trauma program though clinical rounds, weekly meetings, case review, benchmarking outcomes and educational programs. In addition there are multidiscipline trauma committees that work with the trauma program to identify opportunities for improvement and coordinate interdepartmental processes to accomplish those improvements.

Our trauma registrars collect information from where the patient was injured to discharge and enter this into the trauma registry.  This data is compiled and analyzed by the trauma program for injury trends, outcomes, performance and opportunities for improvement and educational programs.  Information is submitted to the National Trauma Data Base and the MA Department of Public Health Office of Emergency Services Trauma Registry for benchmarking.

The Trauma Program is committed to improving trauma care to all citizens of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  Staff participate in regional, state, and national trauma organizations to further develop trauma care, provide community outreach programs, and trauma education.
