South Weymouth, MA – South Shore Hospital is pleased to announce the opening of its new $13.5 million Cardiovascular Center.
The Center offers the region’s most comprehensive approach to the prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and management of cardiovascular disease. A team of more than 30 cardiologists, radiologists and vascular surgeons work closely with primary care and other referring physicians to offer patients an advanced level of care. South Shore Hospital physicians, nurses, technologists and support staff are committed to providing patients with answers and solutions to cardiovascular complications.
In the U.S., an estimated 61.8 million people live with cardiovascular disease. Heart disease, stroke and peripheral vascular disease—the main components of cardiovascular disease—account for nearly 40 percent of all deaths in the nation.
Additional millions are disabled, frequently in their prime years. Unfortunately, cardiovascular disease is a condition where symptoms go undiagnosed often until it’s too late. Across the country only about half those with symptoms have been diagnosed and are seeing a physician for treatment. Often patients with one type of cardiovascular condition, like heart disease, also have other complications such as peripheral artery disease or stroke.
