Improved Efficiency with Health Information Technology
South Weymouth, MA—August 2, 2012— South Shore Hospital has been recognized as one of the nation’s Most Wired according to July’s issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. Our hospital was one of only seven in Massachusetts and 220 nationwide to earn the Most Wired distinction.
Most Wired hospitals are leveraging the adoption and use of health Information Technology (IT) to improve performance in a number of areas.
Among the key areas that designated South Shore Hospital Most Wired status were:
Our technology infrastructure – provides advanced system availability, back-up and disaster recovery capabilities as well as advanced information security systems which safeguard patient information.
Our advanced clinical information systems – enable key capabilities such as computerized physician order entry (CPOE) of medication and non medication orders, electronic medication administration and bedside verification with bar-coding systems and health information exchange systems to share patient information with community providers.
To be considered for the designation, South Shore Hospital participated in the magazine’s 2012 Most Wired survey, which asked comprehensive questions about the Hospital’s Informational Technology (IT) initiatives. A total of 1,570 hospitals completed the survey nationwide.
