South Weymouth, MA November 18, 2010 – South Shore Hospital has been named one of the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts in the third annual employee-based survey project from The Boston Globe.
The Top Places to Work program recognizes the most progressive companies in the state, based on employee opinions about company leadership, compensation and training, diversity/inclusion, career development, family-friendly flexibility, and values and ethics. Private companies and nonprofits as well as publicly-held businesses were included in the analysis.
“We are proud to be named among the Top Places to Work in Massachusetts,” said Richard Aubut, president and chief executive officer. “What makes this particular recognition meaningful is that we were nominated by a nurse from our home care division — and that we earned this distinction based on how colleagues feel about working for our charity. Our medical staff, employees and volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization and their commitment to each other is what makes a difference every day for our patients and their families.”
This year the rankings were organized into three categories: Large, Midsize, and Small employers.
South Shore Hospital was ranked 6th overall in the “Large Employers” category. South Shore Hospital also ranked 7th in two subcategories: “Chances for Women,” which indicates that the hospital provides outstanding opportunities for women, and “Direction,” which indicates that employees feel the organization is going in the right direction.
Employees working at companies across Massachusetts were asked to grade their organization’s performance by responding to a 23-question, anonymous online survey.
The Boston Globe publisher Chris Mayer stated, “Each of the companies included in the Top Places to Work 2010 deserve recognition for creating a positive workplace for their employees. Their accomplishments add to the vitality of the Commonwealth’s business environment.”
To qualify for the Boston Globe’s Top Places to Work, a company must have more than 100 employees in Massachusetts. Rankings were composite scores calculated purely on the basis of employee responses. Please visit www.boston.com/topworkplaces for more details.
