South Shore Hospital Earns "Most Wired" Distinction for Second Year
South Weymouth, MA – August 5, 2013--South Shore Hospital was recently recognized as one of the nation’s Most Wired according to the results of the 2013 Most Wired Survey released in Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. South Shore Hospital was one of only 9 in Massachusetts and 291 nationwide to earn Most Wired distinction.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of Health Care’s Most Wired Survey. In that time, hospitals and health care systems have made great strides in establishing the basic building blocks for creating robust clinical information systems aimed at improving patient care. Improvements include adopting technologies in patient care documentation, advancing clinical decision support and evidence-based protocols, reducing medication errors, and rapidly restoring access to data in case of a disaster or outage.
“This elite national distinction is a rewarding recognition of the commitment that our information systems and clinical informatics teams have made in recent years to automate our advanced clinical systems and provide technologies that contribute to quality, safe and reliable solutions within the patients’ experience. Our investments in the building blocks to be a Most Wired Hospital are really stepping stones to a larger vision to enable mobile technologies that will support nomadic and fluid wireless solutions for our caregivers in years ahead. I am very proud of the teamwork that made this distinction possible,” said Del Dixon, vp information systems, CIO.
Health Care’s Most Wired Survey was conducted between January 15 and March 15, 2013, and asked hospitals and health systems nationwide to answer questions regarding their IT initiatives. Respondents completed 659 surveys, representing 1,713 hospitals nationwide. The 2013 Most Wired Survey also covered some new areas such as big data analytics and patient generated data. An emerging practice, big data analytics looks at large amounts of data to uncover patterns and correlations.
