South Shore Hospital Nurse Midwife wins Nurse Leader of the Year from March of Dimes
South Weymouth, MA – October 16, 2013—Nanette Landry, certified nurse midwife (CNM), of South Shore Hospital, has received the Nurse Leader of the Year award from March of Dimes Massachusetts.
As a certified nurse midwife, Nanette provides obstetrical care to women in both the community practice setting and at South Shore Hospital. South Shore Hospital now provides 24/7 midwifery services for laboring mothers. Nanette holds a bachelors degree in nursing from Boston University and a masters degree in nursing from Columbia University. She was instrumental in bringing midwifery services to South Shore Hospital in 1987 and has won numerous awards, including a Regional Award for Excellence in Nurse Midwifery from the American College of Nurse Midwives in 2004. She is also a clinical lecturer at Curry College School of Nursing.
Nanette accepted the March of Dimes Nurse Leader of the Year award on behalf of all the nurses in the Maternal/Child Services division at South Shore Hospital. Nanette said, “Who I am as a nurse has been taken from them. We learn from and lean on each other every day. They are the best!”
Nominated by her peers and patients alike, one of Nanette’s nominators said, "She is my hero. She is selfless in her work, while maintaining a loving home life with her family and supporting her home community. She also volunteers to help a former patient with ALS who has young children. She is tireless in continually caring and providing excellent care."
According to March of Dimes MA, the awards honor nursing excellence and pay tribute to hundreds of nurses at the front lines of care who have had a tremendous impact on patients and their families. The Nurse Leader Award is given to a nurse that demonstrates leadership in their nursing and mentorship achievements.
Nanette resides with her family in Scituate.
