South Shore Hospital Five-Time Winner of The Boston Globe’s “Top Places to Work” Program
South Weymouth, MA – December 9, 2014--South Shore Hospital has been named one of The Boston Globe’s “Top Places to Work,” for the fifth consecutive year. South Shore Hospital was ranked 16th overall in the “Largest Employers” category, rising 5 spots in the rankings over last year.
The Top Places to Work program recognizes the most progressive companies in the state, based on employee opinions about company leadership, compensation and training, diversity/inclusion, career development, family-friendly flexibility, and values and ethics. Private companies and nonprofits as well as publicly-held businesses were included in the analysis. Rankings were organized into four categories: Largest, Large, Midsize, and Small employers.
Earlier this year, our colleagues were invited to complete an anonymous 10-question survey on our workplace practices. The Boston Globe’s 2014 Top Places to Work survey, conducted by employee survey firm Workplace Dynamics, measured more than 73,500 individuals’ responses to statements regarding six key factors related to employee happiness, including company direction, execution, employee connection, work load and responsibility, management, and pay and benefits. Least important factors were pay, benefits and work-life balance, with survey subjects placing much higher importance on employee appreciation, confidence and a meaningful connection to the work. WorkplaceDynamics also found that of all the cities surveyed, employees in Boston were most enthusiastic about their companies, making Boston the top of the Top Places to Work.
To qualify for The Boston Globe’s Top Places to Work, a company must have more than 100 employees in Massachusetts. Rankings were composite scores calculated purely on the basis of employee responses. Please visit www.bostonglobe.com/topplaces and www.boston.com/topplaces for more details.
