Education, Training & Outreach

EMT TrainingAs the premier provider of pre-hospital education and training in Southeastern Massachusetts, South Shore EMS continues to deliver high quality academics for EMTs and Paramedics. With three Massachusetts OEMS-certified instructor/coordinators on staff and access to state-of-the-art mobile and fixed medical education technology, the continued growth and development of the Education and Training Division has been unparalleled.

Along with the development of comprehensive training for medical professionals, there has also been collaboration with local First Response agencies (EMS, Fire Departments and Police Departments) on the use of Narcan during opioid overdose emergencies, tourniquets to assist in bleeding control during traumatic emergencies, and patient assessment to use automated external defibrillators (AEDs).

Preparing our community for response to emergencies is a priority as demonstrated by our presence at multiple events hosted at local schools, community centers, clinics and special events. Students are also hosted within our hospital for initial paramedic training or other allied health profession education. The training division recently received recognition after a local Boy Scout successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver on his choking mother after receiving first aid training in our program.
