Donna, RN, was so impressed with the care she received at South Shore Hospital when she delivered her first child that she joined the maternity nursing staff soon thereafter. Twenty-one years later, she's still impressed.
“We're an incredible team and we're all very proud of what we do,” she says. “We each bring a part of us, as women, as mothers, as nurses, to every patient.” In addition to her night-shift nursing responsibilities, Donna teaches a class that prepares parents who are expecting twins, triplets (or more).
It's a labor of love, since her own twins, now teenagers, were born premature and cared for at South Shore Hospital.
“We now have a neonatal intensive care unit so we have the ability to care for ‘preemies’ close to home. That means a lot to expectant parents,” she says.
“It's wonderful to be a maternity nurse here. The caliber of the staff is outstanding,” Donna says. “We make a tremendous difference in families' lives.”
