Gastrointestinal Tumor Clinic
Multidisciplinary care for patients diagnosed with tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, including colorectal cancer, benign and malignant pancreatic tumors, stomach cancer, tumors of the gallbladder or bile duct, and primary or metastatic tumors of the liver.
Patients with gastrointestinal tumors may require surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy as part of their treatment. Our multidisciplinary team of surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and radiologists offer coordinated care in a timely manner. All new referrals are reviewed by a team of specialists prior to the first patient visit. Appointments with individual specialists will then be arranged, with all appointments and testing scheduled within a few days. In addition, a “nurse navigator” helps make the patient experience seamless.
In addition to comprehensive expert care, many patients will be eligible to participate in clinical trials designed to identify new and promising therapies. Many nationwide clinical trials will be accessible to patients at the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center in clinical affiliation with South Shore Hospital.
