The Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center in clinical affiliation with South Shore Hospital provides local access to world-leading care and support. The Center is deeply committed to providing the necessary tools and resources to make sure patients and their families are well-informed.
Here at the Cancer Center, we understand that many decisions concerning a health change can be overwhelming, including a cancer diagnosis. We feel that providing you with as much knowledge as possible will eliminate any unnecessary confusion or stress during your cancer treatment and/or experience, including:
- Advanced Directives — legal documents that allow people to communicate their decisions about medical care to family, friends, and health care professionals in the event that they are unable to make those decisions themselves.
- Cancer Patient Care Council — a volunteer group of patients and family members who work with staff on patient-care improvements, and serves as a resource for patient-related issues.
- Online Resources — offer information to help support patients during and after treatment, with helpful links to websites containing information on diseases and medical conditions, general health, and regional health centers.
- Patient Safety — information to help patients understand their rights and responsibilities as patients, as well as the safety measures we extend to patient at the Cancer Center.
