Members of The Friends are of all ages and from many different communities, but they share a common bond: a mutual interest in advancing the good health of our region through the mission of South Shore Hospital.

Who Are We?
Members of The Friends of South Shore Hospital encourage people like you to support the hospital through volunteerism, to raise funds for needed programs, and to build goodwill
for the hospital within our community.
The Friends is a diverse group: Women and men, single and married, at home, in school, working and retired, from towns throughout the hospital's service area. The Friends includes groups of individuals with special affinities to South Shore Hospital, as well as to specific hospital services and initiatives.
What Are the Affinity Groups?
Individual members of our Affinity Groups believe and care in the services South
Shore Hospital provides because of their personal experiences with our organization.
These dedicated individuals volunteer, raise funds for needed programs, and serve as ambassadors to the surrounding community, building goodwill for the hospital.

Business Friends of South Shore Hospital
The Business Friends of South Shore Hospital promotes a healthier and better-informed workforce and advances educational activities that meet the unique needs of business. Business Friends encourages healthy lifestyles and promotes a healthy working environment through a variety of activities, including expert guest speakers. The steering committee met several times and agreed on interim leadership and a strategic plan for growth. The group also conducted a small survey of area business interest in programs.
Friends of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
The Friends of NICU supports South Shore Hospital and its neonatal intensive care unit through fundraising and by serving as ambassadors in the community. The Friends of NICU brings together people who want to assure that these special infants, their families, and their caregivers get the support that they need. Members of this group are parents of former and current patients, family members, and community supporters. They raise funds for the NICU by organizing events like the Stroller Stroll, raffles, and fashion shows. All proceeds from
The Friends of NICU activities benefit this special unit and its patients.

Friends of Hospice of the South Shore
Members of The Friends of Hospice, through The Friends of South Shore Hospital,
support Hospice of the South Shore through friend-raising and fundraising. They network with others who want to support those with terminal illness and their families, and serve
as ambassadors to the community, by holding community educational meetings.
The
Friends of Hospice is a catalyst in organizing the Walk for Hospice of the South Shore.

Friends of Nursing
Members of The Friends of Nursing advance and celebrate the nursing profession at
South Shore Hospital. The group supports educational endeavors that encourage professional growth opportunities for nurses and the spirit of nursing. In addition,
the group will friend-raise and fund-raise for, as well as provide needed volunteer

Friends of Cardiovascular Care
Friends of Cardiovascular Care provides support to cardiovascular services at South Shore Hospital through friend-raising and fundraising, and encourages those recovering from heart disease to live healthier lives through exercise and diet. Many members have participated in South Shore Hospital's cardiac rehabilitation program and are committed to helping others recovering from or coping with cardiac illness. Members encourage a happy, healthy course of life through educational meetings, guest speakers, social gatherings, and quarterly meetings. Call 781-340-4170 for information.
Healthy Values Friends
Healthy Values is a senior membership program for people age 50+ that provides access to a wide variety of programs to help enhance overall health and well-being. Members enjoy being in the company of others who share their commitment to good health. Friends of Emergency Care
The Friends of Emergency Care helps advance emergency services at South Shore Hospital, the second largest emergency center in Eastern Massachusetts. Members generate support for, and works as advisors to, our emergency department staff. Call 781-340-4170 for details.
Friends of Women's Health
The Friends of Women's Health generates support for services for women, including the Breast Care Center, offered in affiliation with Brigham & Women's Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Members friend-raise and fundraise to generate the support needed to assure that these services are available for women. Call 781-340-4170 for details.
