It’s easy to become a member of the Friends. Any person interested in advancing the mission of South Shore Hospital may become a member of the Friends. Consistent with the mission and policies of the hospital, membership in the Friends is available without regard to race, gender, age, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, or sexual orientation.

Membership Types

All memberships in the Friends of South Shore Hospital offer several fundamental rewards such as:

• The knowledge that you are helping South Shore Hospital achieve its mission of Healing, Caring and Comforting

• A lasting connection with the region's premier medical center that provides a variety of opportunities to get to know leaders within the Hospital as well as other residents of the South Shore with a similar interest in being affiliated with South Shore Hospital, its programs, and its service to the region.

The different levels of membership in the Friends include the following specific benefits:

Friend of South Shore Hospital -- $25 per year  (or 240 volunteer hours)

• Free subscription to Focus on Friends - the monthly newsletter of the Friends full of information about events and opportunities for involvement in Hospital programs and activities.

• Inclusion in special "employee-only" shopping and discount events at the Cottage Shop.

• Discounts on outpatient rehab and Community Health programs at Hospital facilities.

• Discounts on day and overnight trips hosted by Friends affinity groups to enjoyable destinations.

• Discounts at over 70 participating area merchants…

• Free subscription to the community magazine, the journal for your health and healthy living.

• Free daily newspaper, visitor meal coupon and other guest service benefits when admitted to the Hospital.

• Friends of South Shore Hospital gift item

Couples Membership -- $40 per year

• Basic Friends membership for 2 adults in same household

Family Friend of South Shore Hospital -- $100 per year

• Includes all benefits above for all members of your immediate family

• Family discount for special Friends group trips to family-focused destinations and activities

Best Friend of South Shore Hospital -- $200 per year

• Family membership as above

• Invitations to periodic special, in-depth guided tours of specific programmatic  areas and strategic initiatives of interest within the Hospital followed by social event and discussion with clinical leader from that program

• Invitations to special presentations from clinical and administrative staff on latest medical and health issues, technology, procedures, advice and Hospital initiatives

• Automatic single entry in all Friends sponsored $5 raffle events held in Hospital dining room for sports tickets or other special events

Lifetime Friend of South Shore Hospital -- $2,500 pledge

• Lifetime Best Friends membership

• Current Lifetime members "grandfathered"
