Volunteer Benefits
Volunteers often tell us how rewarding they find it is to support South Shore Hospital’s mission of promoting good health, and healing, caring and comforting. They like the opportunity to learn more about health care, to meet new people, form lasting friendships, and build new skills.
Volunteering provides people an opportunity to "give back" by supporting their community.
South Shore Hospital volunteers also receive:
- Complimentary meal in the hospital dining room (up to $6 value) on days a volunteer is working or attending a hospital meeting. VNA and Hospice volunteers may redeem their meal vouchers on any convenient day.
- Invitation to the Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon.
- Service pins or certificates, in recognition of years/hours of service.
In addition, volunteers are eligible to take advantage of some of the benefits offered to South Shore Hospital employees, including:
- Free annual flu immunizations.
- Discounts on selected South Shore Hospital seminars, classes, and health programs.
- Discounts at participating area merchants, such as dry-cleaners, travel agencies, cinemas, wholesale shopping clubs, salons, amusement parks, restaurants and other retailers.
- Periodic discounts on selected items in the hospital's charitable gift shops.
- Free subscription to our community health newsletter, southshorehospital.org.
- Advance notifications of other hospital events of interest to you and your family.
Of course, the most important benefit of volunteering at South Shore Hospital is the personal satisfaction that comes from knowing you have made a difference in the lives of patients and their families.
