Bone Densitometry

South Shore Hospital Outpatient Imaging and Women’s Specialty Center at 101 Columbian provides bone densitometry services in a private, comfortable and contemporary facility staffed exclusively by female technicians.  

Bone densitometry scanning, or "bone density scan," is an enhanced form of X-ray technology that is used to measure bone loss.  Similar to other radiograph (X-ray) tests, a bone density scan is a painless medical test most often performed on the lower spine and hips.  The pictures obtained from this scan help to diagnose and treat medical conditions potentially caused from bone loss.
