Introducing South Shore MyChart

South Shore MyChart

You can expect changes in your MyHealth account, as South Shore Hospital transitions from our MyHealth portal to the South Shore MyChart portal.

What is Happening?

You likely know South Shore Hospital is now part of South Shore Health System, a community-based health system that also includes South Shore Medical Center, South Shore VNA, Hospice of the South Shore, and numerous outpatient health programs.

As of July 1, 2017, all organizations within South Shore Health System (SSHS)—including South Shore Hospital—will start using the same electronic health record (EHR) to store and manage your medical information.

The new EHR features a patient portal called South Shore MyChart. South Shore MyChart is much like the MyHealth portal, but with added functionality such as the ability to review your medical record, view test results, and pay your bill online.

You will need to setup an account in South Shore MyChart, just as you originally did with MyHealth.

How Will You Benefit?

South Shore MyChart gives you online access to your medical records—no matter where you receive care within South Shore Health System. Health information from your visits to South Shore Hospital, South Shore Medical Center, and our many clinics will be stored in one location and accessible to you through one portal. 

Equally important, a single electronic health record gives your South Shore Health System providers access to information about care you receive throughout the system.

What Do You Need to Do?

Patients must create their own South Shore MyChart accounts; it will not happen automatically.

You may enroll in South Shore MyChart starting July 1, 2017. Enrollment involves completing a registration that will be available on South Shore Health System’s website starting July 1. If you need proxy access—which allows a parent, guardian or other designated individual to connect to the information regarding a family member or friend—these forms will also be available on our website. You will need to fill out a MyChart proxy access form, as this information will not transfer over from your MyHealth account.

After setting up your South Shore MyChart account, a limited amount of your medical information will transfer in the portal such as lab results and imaging results from the last three years.   

Prior to July 1, 2017 you are able to print or download any information that you wish to keep that will not transfer over.

What You Need to Know About Accessing MyHealth

Your ability to use and access information from MyHealth will remain through June 30, 2017. After that, the MyHealth portal will no longer be accessible.
