Plan features include coverage for medical services rendered at hospitals, emergency care facilities, and physician offices. While the plan encourages preventative and diagnostic care, key attributes include a generous reimbursement for basic and major restorative procedures. Additionally, the plan offers orthodontia coverage for dependents.

HIV Insurance
South Shore Hospital provides all employees HIV insurance coverage equal to $50,000. Employee paid supplemental coverage is available in $50,000 increments to a maximum of $250,000. Plan coverage is limited to occupational exposure.
Long Term Disability Insurance
If you become disabled and unable to work, South Shore Hospital provides free income protection coverage equaling 60 percent of base earnings up to plan maximums. Eligibility commences after a 180 day waiting period following the onset of the disability. Further protection is available through our discounted employee-paid short-term disability insurance program, allowing employees to protect their income and customize their benefits suite.
Flexible Spending Accounts: Health Care and Dependent Care
Employees may take advantage of our flexible spending account options. Employees can make pre-tax contributions through payroll deductions to be used to pay for out-of-pocket health care expenses (up to $2,000 annually) and/or dependent care costs (up to $5,000 annually). Reimbursements can be arranged via direct deposit.
403b Retirement Savings Plan
All employees are eligible to contribute a pre-tax portion of pay up to the IRS maximum allowance. South Shore Hospital matches fifty cents on every dollar up to the first 6% of pay. All matching contributions are fully vested.
South Shore Hospital also makes a core contribution annually for all employees that worked at least 1,000 hours in a calendar year. This contribution is based upon service and age, and is subject to a 3 year vesting requirement.
Wellness Programs
We believe in promoting the health and well-being of our employees and consider it a shared goal for mutual success. The Hospital regularly maintains unique onsite wellness programs including health screenings and coaching programs.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The EAP helps employees and their family members with confidential counseling, assistance and referral services to effectively problem solve personal issues and promote work/life balance.

Tuition Assistance
A new career at South Shore Hospital will not require you to discontinue your education. South Shore Hospital values the professional growth that college level courses provide. With approval, classes relating to principal work assignment and contributing to effectiveness in a current or future position are reimbursable after one year of employment.
529 College Savings Plan
The Hospital recognizes the varied needs of our employees. A 529 College Savings Plan allows employees to have a portion of their paycheck direct-deposited, post-tax, into a variety of investment accounts to cover costs associated with a secondary education. Some plan advantages include tax-deferred earnings and federal tax-free withdrawals for qualified education expense, including tuition, room and board.
English as a Second Language Courses
South Shore Hospital believes in delivering innovative benefits. All non-native English speaking staff members can improve speaking, listening, reading, writing and computer skills through our free English as a Second Language courses. The Hospital partners with JVS to provide onsite education that include lessons on health care vocabulary and hospital terminology.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
South Shore Hospital encourages a healthy work life balance. All employees working in a budgeted, authorized position of at least 40 hours per pay period are eligible for PTO with the exception of physician and union colleagues. PTO accrual is based on years of service.
