Since 1981, Hospice of the South Shore, the first Medicare-certified hospice program in
the region, has provided home health care and support for terminally ill patients and their families. We offer 24-hour care to individuals living in their own home, assisted living, or long-term care facilities. Our multidisciplinary team can provide nursing and case management services in addition to pain management, symptom control, IV therapy, respite care, physical therapy, support groups, and bereavement programs.

With the commitment of a family member or friend to serve as the primary caregiver, the hospice team provides support through a variety of scheduled visits. Our nurses are available 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week for emergency consultations and visits. Should hospitalization become necessary, our Hospice team continues to support both the patient and family during a hospital stay.

Our Philosophy

While our program neither postpones nor hastens death, we help ease the accompanying physical, spiritual, and emotional pain. We understand that death is a natural part of life, to be approached with dignity and handled with love. We treat the patient's medical needs as well as the social, psychological, and spiritual needs of both patient and family.
