The staff of our maternity center welcomes family and friends. Experienced mothers have told us that it is best for family and friends to visit during the afternoon and early evening.  This allows time for rest, personal care, and to learn about caring for your newborn during the morning hours.

Often new mothers are exhausted but too excited to sleep. Many mothers may find themselves torn between wanting to entertain visitors and needing to get rest or concentrate on feeding and learning to care for their new baby.

We encourage you to prioritize your wishes and needs during the first few days of your baby’s life. Please share your preferences with staff and your family and friends. We will honor both your need for rest and privacy and your desire to share your joy with those close to you.

The maternity staff supports your choices regarding visitors. To assure that your choice is respected, we now offer a maternity concierge service. When a visitor arrives at the maternity center, the concierge will call you and ask if this is a suitable time for a visit.  If you choose to have a visitor at that time your visitor will be directed to your room.  If you choose not to have a visit right then, the concierge can request that the visitor wait for a brief period before visiting, or ask that he or she return at a later time.  You may also request not to be disturbed at all. For visits that are declined, we will provide the opportunity for the visitor to leave a brief note. You may also call the concierge to request that no visitors be allowed in during a designated time or to request that visitors are allowed in without a call.

While families are important to us, siblings may not visit without a responsible adult and are not allowed to stay overnight at the hospital to assure that you receive adequate rest during your stay.

Children who have been exposed to contagious diseases such as chicken pox cannot
visit in the maternity center or nursery, as this poses a serious risk to all newborns.
