Medical Oversight Program
South Shore Hospital is a licensed Medical Oversight Facility through the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. South Shore Hospital provides medical oversight for 10 EMS systems in the region including private ambulance services, fire department-based ambulance services and the South Shore Hospital-based ambulance service.
In total, South Shore Hospital’s EMS Medical Oversight Program oversees more than 300 Advanced Level EMS providers and more than 25,000 EMS responses per year.
The Medical Oversight Program is led by the Director of Pre-Hospital Care, and includes the Education and Training Program, which provides education and skills maintenance for EMS providers, and the Department of Quality, which oversees compliance.
