NICU & Maternal Transport Teams

South Shore Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Transport Team consists of neonatologists, highly-trained registered nurses and respiratory therapists and specially-trained paramedics. The team specializes in the transport of premature or critically ill newborns to South Shore Hospital’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) from facilities that do not provide Level III newborn care.

South Shore Hospital’s Maternal Transport teams are trained to transport expectant mothers to South Shore Hospital whose babies may be born prematurely or have an anticipated medical problem. The baby benefits from immediate access to our Level III NICU after delivery.
