Pain Management Clinic

The Pain Management Center at South Shore Hospital is dedicated to locating the source of your pain and identifying ways to minimize or eliminate it. You and our specialists work together to treat your pain, as well as the stress and anxiety that often accompanies it. Our goal is to make you comfortable so that you may enjoy your life to its full potential. Your treatment is designed exclusively for you.

What can the pain center treat?

We treat a variety of conditions:

  • Arthritis
  • Migraine headaches
  • Back pain
  • Phantom limb pain
  • Cancer pain
  • Post-surgery pain
  • Facial pain
  • Post-trauma pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Neck pain
  • Shingles

What happens at the pain center?

First you will be seen by a registered nurse and a physician who specialize in pain management. They will review your medical history and evaluate your problem. Depending on your situation, your evaluation may include laboratory and radiological testing, and/or behavioral assessment. The doctor will then offer a treatment plan based on the assessment.

Will I be treated on the first visit?

An evaluation will be done on the first visit. You may or may not be treated at this time. Treatment is determined on a case-by-case basis after your initial evaluation by the physician.  Notable exceptions include workers compensation cases and treatments that must be performed in the operating room or radiology suite.

What will my treatment involve?

Your care will be personalized depending on your pain problem. Your treatment may involve one or more of the following:

  • Patient education
  • Wellness training
  • Medication management
  • Relaxation therapy
  • Nerve blocks
  • Behavioral therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • The most advanced pain relief techniques

Who’s on the pain center staff?

Our pain management physicians, nurses, psychologists, physical therapists, pharmacists, and other health care professionals are dedicated to helping you find relief.

How do I make an appointment?

Before our Pain Management Center can begin evaluating your condition, we need a referral from your primary care physician. Speak with your physician and request a referral to the center, or call us at 781-624-8352.
