Physician Director Election

2015 Physician Director Election

Luke O’Connell
Elected To Three-Year HPSO Board Term
(2015-2018)

A message from
John Walsh, MD, President, South Shore Hospital Medical Staff

January 30, 2015

It is with great pleasure that we write to let you know that Dr. Luke O’Connell has been affirmed to serve as Physician Directors of the Board of the Health Provider Services Organization of the South Shore (HPSO). He will serve a three-year term that runs from April 1, 2015 through March 31, 2018.  You can review his HPSO Physician Directors of the Board candidate profile below.

On behalf of the entire Medical Staff, we want to congratulate Dr. O’Connell on being re-elected. We are grateful that he is willing to further the interests of the Medical Staff by continuing to serve on the HPSO Board.  Dr. O’Connell has been a dedicated member of the hospital community and through his role on HPSO, he will continue to contribute to the creation of an improved system of care for the South Shore Community.

Please join us in congratulating and thanking Dr. O’Connell.

The HPSO Board comprises five Active Medical Staff members and four hospital-appointed administrators, supported by a full time executive director.  The five HPSO Physician Directors are elected by the physician members of the Medical Staff.  The HPSO chairperson must be an Active Medical Staff member and also serves on the South Shore Health and Educational Corporation Board of Directors.  HPSO Physician Directors serve three-year terms.  The terms are staggered so that the HPSO Board benefits from the experience of longer-serving Board members while welcoming fresh perspectives from new Directors.
