Physician Director Election

Christopher T. Ducko, MD, and Jeff Johnson, MD
Elected To Three-Year HPSO Board Term (2014 – 2017)

January 28, 2014

 A message from

John Feldman, MD, President, South Shore Hospital Medical Staff
Michael Ayers, MD, Chairman, Health Provider Services Organization

It is with great pleasure that we write to let you know that Dr. Christopher Ducko and Dr. Jeff Johnson have been elected to serve as Physician Directors of the Board of the Health Provider Services Organization (HPSO). They will serve a three-year term that runs from April 1, 2014 through March 31, 2017. You can read their HPSO Physician Directors of the Board candidate profiles below.

On behalf of the entire Medical Staff, we want to congratulate Dr. Ducko and Dr. Johnson on being elected. We are grateful that they are willing to further the interests of the Medical Staff by serving on the HPSO Board. They have been dedicated members of the hospital community and through their new role will be able to contribute to the creation of an improved system of care for the South Shore community.

We also want to thank Drs. Elana Dekkers, Nick Morse, Nicolas Saliba, and Simone Wildes for demonstrating their commitment to the Medical Staff by running for office. These physicians have contributed to the South Shore community in the past and we know they will support the HPSO Board in achieving its mission of aligning the interests of South Shore physicians, patients and hospital.

Please join us in congratulating and thanking all of the candidates.

The HPSO Board comprises five Active Medical Staff members and four hospital-appointed administrators, supported by an full-time executive director.  The five HPSO Physician Directors are elected by the physician members of the Medical Staff.  The HPSO chairperson must be an Active Medical Staff member and also serves on the South Shore Health and Educational Corporation Board of Directors.  HPSO Physician Directors serve three-year terms.  The terms are staggered so that the HPSO Board benefits from the experience of longer-serving Board members while welcoming fresh perspectives from new Directors.

The election process was announced on September 24, 2013. Six active Medical Staff members listed above submitted HPSO Physician Director applications.  All six physicians were named to the slate of candidates by the HPSO Nominating Committee, which comprises the HPSO Chairman (Michael Ayers, MD), Medical Staff President (John Feldman, MD), Hospital CEO/President (Richard Aubut), and the two at-Large elected members of the Medical Executive Committee (Drs. Todd Ellerin and Ben Kerman).
