Surgical Specialties

South Shore Hospital's surgical team includes 188 board-certified surgeons, 25 board-certified anesthesiologists, 21 certified registered nurse anesthetists, and more than 200 nurses, technicians, and other perioperative staff members who work collaboratively on behalf of patients - before, during, and following each operation. Together, the team performs approximately 13,300 inpatient and outpatient surgeries each year.

Our wide range of surgical specialties are made possible through South Shore Hospital’s highly-skilled team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, operating room and support staff, along with advanced technology and equipment to support them. We are confident that every surgery will meet each patient’s highest expectations.

Our surgical specialty services include the latest, most advanced, minimally-invasive surgical procedures which benefit patients on multiple levels, including shorter hospital stays, quicker recovery time, less pain and a faster return to normal activities.

The da Vinci system is the latest addition to an already comprehensive minimally invasive surgical program at South Shore Hospital. The da Vinci Robot is being used to treat a range of gynecological, urological and thoracic surgical conditions, including certain cancers.  The world-leading technology provides surgeons with high definition 3-D magnification, increased range of motion and greater precision. The robotic hands mirror the surgeon’s hands and operate according to the surgeon’s guidance.

At South Shore Hospital, we understand that having surgery can create anxiety for patients and their families. Our medical and nursing staffs share a common goal: to provide you with an optimum surgical experience that will offer you an improved quality of life and our dedicated team of board-certified surgeons, anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists, and more than 200 nurses, technicians, and other perioperative staff members work to provide patients and families with the highest quality care, while maintaining a compassionate and caring attituede to alleviate anxiety.
