Ongoing Programs:

Open Registration for Smoking Cessation

South Shore Hospital’s certified smoking cessation nurse, Maria Parisi, RN, sees individual clients and hosts group programs to help people stop smoking. She also hosts an ongoing support group for those who have completed the program and want help to remain cigarette-free. Call 781-624-8904 anytime during February to learn more and to enroll in the next program that begins on March 10.

You Can Quit — Smoking Cessation Group

Group meets for ten sessions and is designed to meet individual needs while providing group support. The group quits smoking together after weeks of preparation. Strategies include: stress management, nicotine-replacement use, relapse prevention, weight control, exercise, and ways to reduce barriers to success. All meetings are facilitated by a registered nurse who is certified in smoking cessation. Call 781-624-8904 for information.

Stroke Support Group

South Shore Hospital's stroke support group can to help you sort through the lifestyle changes that a stroke can bring. Participants are able to share their experiences and gain insight from others. The meetings are co-facilitated by a representative from South Shore Hospital’s rehabilitation department and a recovering stroke patient. The group meets on the third Thursday of each month. No registration is necessary; join us when you’d like to. Feel free to bring a friend or relative. Call 781-624-4170 for information.

Smoking Cessation Support Group

Free to anyone who has quit smoking.  All meetings are facilitated by a registered nurse certified in smoking cessation.  Meets the last Thursday of the month from 5-6 p.m. at South Shore Hospital's dining conference room. Call 781-624-8904 for more information.

Cardiac Group

Support group for cardiac patients and their families, to help manage the lifestyle changes that a cardiac event can bring. Meetings are facilitated by cardiac rehab department staff, who are trained, compassionate, and experienced with cardiac patients. Participants are able to share their experiences and to gain insight from others. Meets the second Tuesday of each month from 7-9 p.m. at South Shore Hospital's Cardiac Rehab department. Check Your Blood Pressure

Visit South Shore Hospital’s dining room to use our Seasons4Health Station to check your blood pressure, your weight, and/or your body mass index.

Join The Friends of Cardiovascular Health

The Friends of Cardiovascular Health supports cardiovascular services at South Shore Hospital through friend-raising, fund-raising, and sponsoring educational programs. The group also advises our cardiovascular team about the non-medical aspects of patient care. Call 781-624-4170 for information.
