Helping Children Cope with Loss
When death takes a loved one, everyone in the family feels the impact. Some family members will talk about feelings; others will not. The youngest family members may wish to share their experiences and feelings, but may not be able to convey them in words.
Our program uses art and imagination to give voice to the feelings of children ages 6-10 through the drawings they create. Our approach feels as natural to children as a library story hour. Families take the materials and methods home for future use, whenever the child needs it. The process is simple. The impact is life changing. Families who participate gain lifelong tools for coping with grief and loss.
